School to Work

In support of the many career and technical education programs that Montana public schools create for their students with local businesses, the MSGIA and MTSBA have created applicable School to Work coverage election forms, parental sign-off forms, and school policy language which help ensure compliance with sections of HB283 of the FY21 legislative session and impacted sections of MCA 39-71-318.

For school-to-work opportunities for high school students learning workplace skills in a private or public business now require an annual certification showing whether the business or the school district will be extending coverage to the student.

One form is required for each separate business the school district has school-to-work opportunities established for the school year regardless of the number of students that are participating.

Below, please find the annual coverage election form, a parental sign-off form, and sample language for your district's school board policy on the matter.
