There are many required postings for Employers in the State Of Montana. In this section we will provide you with information, samples, and links to many of the required postings.
School Districts often receive letters from vendors warning about required posters and trying to sell those same posters. Any federal or state poster that is required is also available for free. For more information go to the Employment Posters page on the Montana Department of Labor website.
Posting Notice
MSGIA provides a Workers' Compensation Insurance Coverage Employee Notice or Posting Notice to each member district every year. The posting notice is effective from 12/1/xx to 11/30 of the next year. November is the month that the WCRRP program received its approval from the Employee Relations Division of the Montana Department of Labor.
The posting notice is required to be posted in an area where employees can view it. It provides information on the injury reporting timelines as well as information on how to contact WCRRP.
A sample of the form is provided here.
If you have questions about or need assistance getting another copy of your annual posting notice, contact Lisa Gates, 877-667-7392 or lgates@mtsba.org.
OSHA 300 Injury and Illness Record Keeping
The OSHA 300 Form is another form that School Districts have been filling out. To download the forms click here. For more information on the form click here.
It should be noted that under the 29 CFR 1904 Subpart B Appendix A Educational Services (schools, colleges, universities and libraries) is one of many partially exempt industries from maintaining the injury and illness records. While Public K-12 schools are not governed under OSHA directly, the OSHA standard has been adopted by the Montana Department of Labor in its entirety. Since this is only a partial exemption schools are still required to keep the records if you are asked to under 1904.41 and 1904.42. Also, all School Districts must report workplace incidents that result in a fatality or hospitalization of three or more employees(see 1904.39) to the Montana Department of Labor.
If you have questions about or need assistance completing your annual OSHA 300 form, contact Annette Satterly, 877-667-7392 or asatterly@mtsba.org.
