MSGIA and SEC – New School District Safety Services Offerings
By Shawn Bubb, Director of Insurance Services
This spring, MSGIA is launching a new cost-sharing partnership with Secure Environmental Consultants (SEC) to provide members with access to two new virtual school security services:
- Virtual Security Needs Assessment – This 60-minute session with an SEC security consultant allows your district to review, discuss, and assess its current security landscape and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). MSGIA will provide a 50% cost-share, covering $250 of the $500 service fee per district.
- E-SEC Online Security Training Courses – The initial training bundle includes eight online courses. Topics include critical response training for school staff and two courses focused specifically on athletic event security. One targets coaches and athletic staff; the other is designed for volunteers who regularly assist with school events. These courses help schools plan for and respond to scenarios that unfortunately occur all too often in the U.S. SEC will offer this service at $750 per district annually or bundle both services for $1,000 per year.
The primary goal of this partnership is to improve school districts’ readiness and preparedness through enhanced EOP development and practical staff training. Accident prevention and claim mitigation are driving factors for MSGIA co-funding efforts in risk management activities that support our school district members. By investing in proactive safety measures, districts can better respond to emergencies and improve outcomes for students and staff.
MSGIA supports these efforts through cost-sharing programs aimed at accident prevention and claim mitigation. In addition to the new SEC offerings, MSGIA will continue to co-fund part of a district’s annual EOP app renewal costs. This includes up to $1,000 during the first year of implementation and up to $500 in each subsequent year to support staff training, communication, and emergency preparedness.
Please reach out if you have questions or are ready to participate in these new offerings.
Together, we can help create safer learning environments for Montana schools.
